Mixing Services

The goal of mixing is to bring all the individual tracks together, so they sound balanced, like a real record, and not a collection of separate instruments. Achieving a great balance is also crucial to achieving a loud master, retaining as much clarity and punch as possible.

Mixing is so important in creating that perfect balance of instruments, vocals, etc. This balancing involves not only volume & panning levels of individual tracks, but equalisation, compression, saturation, reverb and delay:

  • Equalisation is used remove unpleasant resonances, and to enhance the tone.
  • Compression is used to ensure individual loud notes do not stick out too much, and to add a degree of loudness to any track which needs more punch or presence.
  • Saturation is used to emphasize sounds, by adding additional harmonics to beef up an instrument or vocal.
  • Reverb & Delay, in combination with panning and volume levels are used to place individual tracks in 3D space. Giving your music more depth and width.

There are many other technologies and techniques, like automation of volume, panning and effects to introduce movement and change momentum.

Many vocals are not always absolutely pitch perfect throughout the song. We are able to provide vocal pitch correction, to ensure the best vocal performance.

Given the wide range of devices used to playback your music these day, achieving a great mix also means that your music should translate well on multiple devices including Bluetooth Speakers, Earbuds, Phone/Laptop Speakers, Computer Speakers, Car Speakers, Hi-Fi, in both mono and stereo.

Finally, you might be interested in knowing why we use the Greek letter Sigma in our name. Few people, other than engineers or mathematicians, are aware that the letter sigma (Σ) is used to specify the sum of a given calculation. We feel that a well mixed song is the correct sum of its individual tracks.
